Default 32 3W seat tracks

The upper seat tracks are attached to the bottom of the seat pan with five 1/4” carriage bolts. On my seat pan the 2nd, 3rd and 5th holes are the same and consistent with the 1/4” carriage bolts. The 1st hole is slightly larger and the 4th hole is even larger. The oversize holes are drilled, not punched like the 1/4" holes. Are the oversize holes a backyard modification or an assembly line fix to ease installation? Thanks for the help.

Backyard variety, I'd say given that all of the holes in the seat tracks are the same size.

Here's a better photo of the 3-window tracks.

Thanks for the second photo. Looks like anti squeak is tacked around the edge where each board contacts the floor. I have a pair of std coupe (under seat) boards that Im using as patterns to create 3w boards. My issue is with the odd size holes in the seat pan. Who ever enlarged the holes did a good job. They are uniform and precise from side to side. When you consider the bulk and weight of the seat it would be difficult to juggle the seat and line up the 10 attaching bolts all at the same time. Its a late car, maybe they learned during production that they need some play room to make it easier to install the seat. In any event Im going to do a test fit to see how it goes.

Tom,

Mine's a mid-year coupe and I did not experience any alignment difficulties in attaching the upper tracks to the seat frame, but then I installed the tracks on the seat frame before placing the seat in the car. There's enough room beneath the seat frame to insert the bolts into the floor and into the T nuts in the two wood filler pieces.

I'll know better sometime next week after I finish making the filler pieces. I'll install just the seat pan with tracks attached. See how that goes.
