Default Time to Bore an 8BA Flathead! Vintage Buma Boring Action! + Helicoil!

In this week's video I show how I go about using the vintage Buma boring machine on an 8BA flathead block. Also this week I repair a head stud hole using a heli coil. I hope you find it interesting. Thanks for joining me once again in Mart's Garage.

Mart:
THANK YOU very much for making such a detailed video explaining every aspect that a novice needs to know. Your "self-taught" problem solving skills are really appreciated as such knowledge is not written down in any book. It is a wonderful video.
Perhaps I am missing something but, I am wondering how your boring machine is attached (bolted?) to the bare block. I remember in 1967 I had an 8BA bored with a similar machine and the cost was $5 per cylinder. I was making $1.15 per hour.
PLEASE keep sharing your knowledge.

Thanks fellas.

Fordy: In my case I have 2 12mm long studs down the two adjacent bores. There is a cross bar top and bottom. You can see the bottom of one of the clamping bars when I show the boring bar exiting the bore. All my tooling is home made as my machine came with no tooling. I was lucky to find the correct micrometer separately.

Thanks for the reply Mart. Yes, I bet it's difficult to find a boring machine like yours that still has the special micrometer.
