Frame "off" question
As a new A'er, I am wondering if it is possible to loosen body from frame in order to get between body and frame to look for any rust and sand/paint...without completely taking body off the frame?

Re: Frame "off" question
As long as it is loose why not get it out of the way to make your job easier?

Re: Frame "off" question
Not too many years ago I was new to the hobby also, and my "body-off" was to satisfy the DMV in Delaware.. looking for the frame number.! It provided a chance to not only look at the frame, but gave a clearer picture of splash aprons, fender attachment points, engine mount areas, and a host of other "problems" to address before my feeling it was safe to not only run down the road, carry passengers, but to stop when it was required. Good learning experience and fun.. (sometimes)
Have fun and be safe.! |

9/10 or more of the job is done when you are to the point of lifting the body.

Re: Frame "off" question
Yes! Loosen both sides and remove bolts on one side, bottle jack with a long 2x4 under the body, you’ll have Plenty of clearance.

Re: Frame "off" question
I would like to take the body off at some point...my goal as a new owner though is to drive the car till the weather gets cold again and just take a peek so as to stop any potential rust in its tracks. I'm building a new barn to be completed in August 2019 and that's when the any real work will begin!
