Default 1924 transmission question

My friend is trying to get his 1924 racer together and needs me to change the spring and clutch pack on the transmission. I’ve never had one of these apart before, but it looks like I can put it in my press , push down on the top, and remove the pin and the spring will come off, correct?

Well, I can push down on it and it turns slightly, but I can’t get the pin out of the grooves.
So I thought it might need a little more force than what I can put on it

Remove the 3 cotter pins from the finger adjusters and loosen them completely then try.
