Is there an expert V8 rear end rebuilder in the upper mid-west (MN IA WI SD ND)

I would like to find someone to rebuild my early Ford rear. I am located in Southern MN and willing to travel, deliver, and pay.

If possible I would like like to help, to gain the experience and "pass the torch" so to speak.

Thanks for the link... I know of them, hoping to find someone more local, but may use them as a last resort.

I think I could tackle the job too, but I'd have to make some fixtures.....and it would take me a lot of time.

There are two very good threads, with pics, on the Hamb, in the Tech archives. I just did mine, with no special tools, using those two threads as reference.

Did you drive the races out of the axle tubes? I think that may be the biggest challenge. Shimming, and setting the back-lash is patience.

No, my races were OK, but they do that in those threads.

Try Cliff Tipton, lives in Otumwa Iowa, probably spelled the city wrong. It's where the fictional character Radar from Mash was from.

i used a pice of 3/8 all thread and just knocked them out

I did...And yes I'll be heading up there Sat am.... So now am I am working on getting the differential un bolted to slide the axles out, and watching the weather in hopes of loading everything in my Roadster and having a nice road trip.
