Hello everyone
I am new to The Ford Barn posts. I have been a Model A Ford owner since 1988. My first model a was a 1930 murry body fordor. It took me a year to do the restoration. I drove this car for several years untill I had found my fathers car buried in a farmers field. I dug the car up and restored it. I wrote an article about it and it was published in the mafca restorer back in dec of 1992. The car was a slant windshield town sedan and it took me 5 years to locate the parts and put it back together. I have been driving it since 1996. It is a great driver. My current project is a 1931 speedster. My boys are of the age to learn about cars and I thought this would be the appropriate project for them. I just wanted to say hello to everyone and have enjoyed reading the posts. Thanks Hasler 55 Last edited by Hasler55; 05-04-2013 at 10:17 PM. |

Re: New Member
I am not very good with uploading pictures. But I will give it a try. This is the car after I had spent 3 days digging it out of the ground. It was a long time ago.

Re: New Member
Great article Hasler, very inspiring! I love reading stories of restorations like that, when cars left for dead get brought back to life and have such rich history like that. I wish I knew what happened in my cars life, but unfortunately I have no info on it.

Re: New Member
That was an amazing recovery. How much of the body was still usable? Did you locate any of the other missing parts that were originally on the car?

Re: New Member
Great story! As a relatively new model A'er I picked up about 15 years worth of Restorer magazines at a club auction last year that was a benefit to our newly opened Lemay America's Car Museum. It only took me a few months to digest all those issues while cementing my Model A addiction - this story stuck out and I remember it! I think thats awesome to have that kind of history and connection to the car all the way back to when it was new! I'm with everyone else that I would LOVE to see pictures of your restored car!

Re: New Member
My dads car had a lot of rust damage to it. I had picked up another slant windshield body and I cut the back window section out of my dads car and welded it into the other body. My fathers car also had most of the inside window frames and garnish molding which went into the other body. The front visor and top metal roof bracket was installed to the car too. Also I had peeled off the top half of the rear door and welded it into the car. So only parts and sections of my father's original car were salvaged. The seat from my dads car was welded and repaired by me and is going into the speedster that I am building. I wouldn't have bothered at all with the car being in such sad shape, but I just couldn't let go of it because of the wonderful memories attached to it regarding my father.
