Oil gallery plug to 8ba
Hi. I’m building a 8ba , and need new oil gallery plugs. I live in Norway and don’t have many shops to by inch treads bolts and flathead parts at all. Any one knows where to by I’ll be glad.

No, that is for the earlier engine, but 3rd Gen will have the right one.

Re: Oil gallery plug to 8ba
The stock plug has a screw driver slot but one can be made by using an allen pipe plug, making sure to remove material from it to prevent it from hitting the timing gear

" I live in Norway and don’t have many shops to by inch treads bolts" Availability in Norway is the problem. Our inch based hardware isn't so common there. Having said that, a 3/8-19 BSP tapered plug may fit if the threads in the block are chased with the proper tap. Yes, some thread damage will result, but I'll bet it would be fine.

Might not be available at the corner hardware store but a search online will yield results.

Re: Oil gallery plug to 8ba
The amount of leakage from the different thread pitches will be insignificant.
It is standard practice to drill a .040 (1mm) hole in the plug on high performance engines. (to oil the gear) |

By all means do NOT do any odd size re-tapping. The plugs are available. |
