Intake not mating up to block very well
I have a 59AB block and it originally came with a Navarro 3-2 manifold. With that manifold the 3/8 bolts go in all the way by hand. I decided that I wanted to go with an Offenhauser 2-2 manifold.
Most of the bolts will only go in half a turn by hand with the Offy. You can thread them in with a socket and ratchet but they really bind up. Only did that to one of them. It is as if the holes are just a scoch off center. Best solution. A simple one I hope |

Re: Intake not mating up to block very well
Well...a 59A block uses two dowels to accurately align the intake with top of block, so, maybe just open up the bolt holes a tad to provide a bit more clearance, the dowels will still locate the intake in correct place

R U on the dowel right? Does the manifold seat on the gaskets correctly with all flush before screws art inserted?

Just open up the holes a little.

I'm with JSEERY, check the gasket fit to the manifold. Be sure to see if the dowel holes are coordinated with the cap screw holes.

Re: Intake not mating up to block very well
I have an 8ba and am using the Offy Dual carb manifold. I found find that there a couple of holes in the manifold that do not actually have matching holes in the block. But these will not have any holes in the block at all, just the flat deck. Theses do not present a problem except when I initially installed it and tried to match the bolt count with the number of holes in the mainfold.
I have also found that if I spread a light coat of grease on both sides of the intake gasket,(just enough to discolor it) that it makes it easier to remove and reuse it later. |
