Default Gas drip on firewall

Is there a way to stop the drip of gas that runs down the firewall where the gas line runs through the firewall to the glass sediment bowl assembly, I’ve tried several times to thread the fitting making sure it was on straight.

Is the gas running down the firewall inside the car? Or under the hood in the engine compartment?

It is certainly not normal so yes, there are ways to keep it from leaking. Most notably to have properly tight joints where the pipe from under the tank connects under the dash to the inside joint of the sediment bowl and the same under the hood. Have you checked those connections? Is is possible that a former owner took that sediment bowl off and did not put it back tight?

Use some pipe dope then let a neighbor teenager get it real tight.

If it is leaking at the tubing flare, I have had great success using ⅜" copper flare gaskets when I can not get the fuel lines to seal. Either try these or replace the insidee fuel line. https://www.amazon.com/Legines-Coppe...38&sr=1-1&th=1 Some local hardware store carry them.

I would not recommend pipe dope in this situation, altho I have used Permatex Thread Sealant to seal the shut off valve where it enters the bottom of the tank. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002UEOP0...lig_dp_it&th=1

I use Permatex to stop small gas leaks but if the threads on the inlet side are damaged you will have to buy a new sediment bowl and maybe a new gas line.

I had the same problem and it was a cracked ferrule on the inside fuel line. I replaced the whole line assembly from a vendor. The line is steel so I don't recommend any splicing or replacing with copper inside the cab. I found it easier to keep from cross threading the fittings by loosening the 1 1/4" nut that holds the bowl to the firewall

The fuel line can be replaced with a new part and they are affordable. If the fitting on the sediment bowl is bad or the housing is cracked then it should also be replaced. This stuff can be patched up but the patch may be temporary.
