Re: Swaging brake drum studs
Most likely improper pressing. This was done in a professional machine shop. They did eat the cost of a new drum, and the remainder of the job turned out OK.

Re: Swaging brake drum studs
They took responsibility for the drum and after learning from their mistake, they still completed the job. Sounds very professional to me!

Re: Swaging brake drum studs
I trimmed the shoulder on the studs back a bit and fit the drums loose on the studs and let the wheel hub hold the drum in place as in most modern cars rear drum brakes Cheers Rosco

Re: Swaging brake drum studs
I try to do all necessary work myself on my cars. But this is a job that requires a professional shop. If anything goes wrong, you aren’t liable.

Re: Swaging brake drum studs
Leaving the studs loose in the drum it has not caused any problem so far? The studs have play in them cause the drum holes are larger,i would think the assembly would shift back and forth while driving.
