Are there any domestic cars that ever used a 12voly coil without a external resistor?

Hey Chuck, thanks.
Well, your reasoning and opinion all make sense to me. Especially since you have multiple Model A cars and are not a neophyte. I changed my only A to 12V decades ago, for some of your reasoning. I'm not into modern tech, so no need for most of what you mention/accessories. You could most likely be helping here... a lot of what you've learned over the years about Model As.
Good luck !
BTW..if my 'opinion' in not apparent , I just believe that a guys QUESTION / request for help should be addressed in first answers. Then if one sees that that's been accomplished, go off into weeds proselytizing.
