Default Universal Tire- Super Transport

Anyone have experience with these tires or this company?

I'd like to get some nice radial tires for my 39PU without spending $1200-$1400 for a set of 5.

Where does it say that the ones that you linked are radials?

These look like trailer tires--Probably not suitable for a passenger vehicle-

I really doubt they are radials, but I see nothing wrong with using them. Maybe best if your vehicle is a pickup. Bias steer better when trying to park at the store parking lot.

Thumbs up Re: Universal Tire- Super Transport

I have bought from them. Good experience, nice folks. The tire is rated as steer tire 6 ply (load range C) they will work fine on either end of your truck.

Yeah I overlooked your need of radials. They ain't it. Keep looking, my feeling for bias ply is no highway in the rain (unh unh).

You're right, it doesn't actually state they are so I called and they are bias-ply, light truck tires. Back to square one.

I believe that Universal Tires is owned by Coker Tires. I bought 6:00X 16 tires for my 39 PU, but not radials. I saved a little on shipping because Hershey is closer to NJ than Tenn.

I have purchased a couple of tires from them in the past. The transaction was satisfactory. The price was reasonable, tires were good and delivered on time. Can't ask for a whole lot more than that.

V12Bill is correct--they are owned by Coker. Universal when independent was the only maker with the Ford Script tire moulds which is probably why Coker bought them.

I am confused, how many brand names are Coker?

I was looking at these- https://www.universaltire.com/175r16...axi-black.html

I have seen enough negative comments about the quality of Coker tires to make me hesitant, especially when they are asking top dollar. Hate to purchase one "by any other name".

It irks me to think that a set of skinny radials for my old truck cost 3X as much as the set of Michelins I bought 2 weeks ago for my not nearly so old Jeep. (yea, I know about market forces but its still rubber, and less of it, and logistics.) Thanks for the comments just the same

Coker has top quality tires. The cost is due to short runs of production. you can modify any vehicle to accept modern radials and save the dough.
