stock heads
Happy New Year Guys! What do ya'll think about milling stock 8ba heads? What would the limmit be on a stock bore engine?

Depends on more then just the bore. Depending on the lift of the cam, you need to be careful you don't have the valves impacting the heads. On stockers, clearance of .050 is considered good. You need to check with foil balls or clay to know for sure what your clearance is.
Probably the cheapest mod you can make that gives good results. |

Deuce Roadster said it all. 50thou clearance over pistons and valves and measure all of them. You'll get good results from this mod. The quench area over the pistons may need to be reshaped to match the piston tops after milling.

As with any 8BA iron heads make sure there is a substantial ridge under the thermostat housing and the head gasket surface indicating they have not been milled too much in the past. If there is no ridge don't use em.
Good ones should have about a 1/16" or so. |
