Default How can I hold the windshield open, roadster PU

Please help.

When I'm driving my 1928 roadster pick up, the windshield blows closed. The only ventilation is through the side openings.

I can't tighten the top wing nuts enough to hold the wind shield open. Should I try to add swing arms to hold the windshield open?

It does not appear slotted wing arms were originally there on a 1928 roadster pick up .

Thank you.
Bob

The problem is the cup washer in the pivot post. Repro cup washers will not hold the windshield open due to its shape. The shape does not correspond to that of the round portion of the post. You can try to reshape it. Best bet is find a original cup washer.

Years ago, I had a 28 Roadster and had the same problem. I went to Home Depot and purchased a length of wooden dowl about an inch in diameter and two rubber boots. I cut the dowl about 4 or 5 inches long, put the boots on the ends and used it to hold the windshield open.

I have the same thing in my 30 open pickup.I'm not about to try and dig out the welded in cups out of the stanchions,so I made a stick I carry to hold it out when I want it open.I had the same thing on a 28 open cab I had.I have a 28 phaeton now,and I found a short stick under the seat.I suspect that was made for the same thing.

I like tom Endy did but I used a wood paint stirrer cut to length on my TuDor.

Keep it simple. I just fold a rag and stick it in between the the windshield and rail at the bottom about in the middle of the windshield. No chance of scratching the paint.

Hi Tom:

Do you happen to have a photo of what you did?

Thanks
