Plastic fan to look for?
Anybody know what type of car uses the same plastic fan the vendors sell? Or one that will work on the Model A water pump? I've heard it's a pretty common fan thats ez to find in the auto salvage yards?
Thanks |

Re: Plastic fan to look for?
I don't know the answer to that, but it would also need to have the 5/8" pulley, which no newer car uses. I would stick with Snyder's aluminum fan, if for no other reason than it looks so much better.

Re: Plastic fan to look for?
Aren't those old plastic fans stressed from years of use? Or do they last forever?
Sorry if the comment is stupid; I just thought all that modern plastic stuff was built to be disposable.

Re: Plastic fan to look for?
For the cost of $65 for a new one, why would you waste your time looking through junk yards for a use one, to then have to find a pulley?

It wasn't on any mid 80s Chevy anthing much less a van. Vans used a fan clutch with a large set of steel blades. The plastic fan blades themselves on the Model A fan may have come from a modern car but the hub and pulley is A and B. Last edited by John S; 11-05-2014 at 09:55 AM. |
