1933 5W Ford All Steel Deluxe

NEWBIE - INTRODUCTION

I'm creating memories with my aging dad by helping him rebuild his/my 33 Coupe, which sat "in the barn" for 30+ yrs. We just completed an off-frame restore with a 350 Chevy with Turbo Tranny, Jag IRS, and a few others enhancements.

We have most all original parts, including title with matching VIN on frame. We want to keep interior as original as possible, e.g., sent the gauges to Bob's for 12v conversion while hoping to keep the dual fuel/temp gauge functional.

The first phase is to spend some time with my dad IN IT ON THE ROAD. Therefore paint, upholstery, hood, fenders, running boards are not in the first phase. But ensuring the interior parts, windows, and roof are good to go is a priority.

I have found many answers to my questions by perusing this forum, but I have more. This is an intro thread along with a few pics to assist with my questions.

You are on the wrong site, what you have is a butchered, destroyed very rare original Ford. Go over to the hamburger site or street rod site. All those mods you have made may be great today but out of style tomorrow, the original engine and running gear never goes out of style.

While many of us on this forum would perhaps have done the car differently, it is your car and I hope you are able to get a lot of enjoyment in it with your Dad. I know I wish mine was still around.

Good on you for getting the Father/Son project thing happening.

You may find your car has more relevance to our sister site the HAMB. You will push some HOT!!! buttons here with a SBC etc.

Why did you put IFS on it?? There is nothing wrong with a original dropped axle and wishbone. I agree, post it over on the Hamb but even they are going to hate the IFS and the 350. Flatheads are the new "HOT" motor. Too bad.

I agree with quickchange34. I hope everyone builds their cars the way they like them. Lets stay positive, friendly, and helpful and not wear each other out being negative. I love 32,33, and 34s and have 100% stock ones and hot rods. I enjoy all of them.

I think She brought the car like that ,its maybe beyond here ability to change it .Its not the first OHV./IFS car I have seen on here ,I have even seen Model As with 16" wheels on .

Welcome to the "Barn". I wish I was able to share with my Dad some of the experiences that you are having with your Dad. It will mean a lot in later years, trust me. Don't let any of the negative vibes from some here dissuade you, this is a good site with great people.

Welcome to the barn. One of your earlier post stated:Bought Late 1933 5W steel car in 1985; all pieces (except grill) were stored in a barn until this year. Trying to restore using orig parts, colors, accessories, etc. I believe the current body color...
What happened? Why the change? I don't have problem with your car, was just curious as to why the change in direction.

I didn't say IFS, I said IRS - last I checked that was in the REAR.
At least it's not going to be CHOPPED and not one single bit of FIBERGLASS. It also won't have Fat & Skinnies on it. We don't have $$ thousands to put into it, but feel free to donate when criticizing.

This 40-something, 6 ft, Helen Hunt look-a-like, grew up in a junkyard with my dad. After living my entire adult life in another city, I am thrilled to spend an occasional weekend "back home" getting dirty & cleaning gunk out of the roof channel.

No one can scare me away and thus far, I'm thrilled with the answers to my other threads. I love you dad, thanks for this wonderful opportunity.

SignLadie, stick around as we can help. Opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one. Where in Colorado? Have traveled there many times and it's great country. Loved Steamboat and driving to Leadville. Travelled through the Eisenhower tunnel in a 37 Ford coupe (hotrod).

I too, am a new member ....I believe this is the Best place you could be, ......as the closest thing to "FORD Heaven", as you can get....There are so many gracious members, that will offer there knowledge and experiences, ...... as I have found out.....Even better than that, your doing it with your Dad..............

I have worked with my daughter on two of my cars (she is good at upholstery i'm not) It was a very enjoyable time, My wife took many pictures (some without us knowing) I saved them on my computer and enjoy watching them every so often. How old is your father? enjoy him while you can, time waits for no man.
