Default 39 Heasitation

39 in Penna. hasn't been run much over the past few years.
Due to Mercedes daily driver having brake problems it was tied
up for repairs a few days and needed the 39 for transportation.
Had a little compression leak as described in another thread and
added a bottle of K&W block sealer which took care of that problem.
Then the 39 started with a hesitation when the gas pedal was
pushed. Drove it about 50 miles and it the farther I went the worse
it got. Back home I thought the generator wasn't working and the
coil voltage was getting lower and lower. Put voltmeter on and had
close to 9 volts with some engine RPM's. Checked the carb
adjustments and idle was a little fast and the mixture valves were
out about 2 1/2 turns from when I got it right. This was a Ford carb
and Stromberg was sitting on a bench near the front of the car. I
guess I had carb trouble on the road a few years ago an stuck the
Ford carb on to make it home. The gas in the car was a few years
old and very low, I had another can of non corn gas with about 2
gallons in and dumped that in the tank which had non corn gas and
added some MMO. It was still hesitating but a little better. A few
days ago put 10 gallons of no corn and drizzled some MMO down the
carb and it now only had a slight hesitation. Drove 60 miles to
Hershey this morning with still slight hesitation. On the way home
after 90 miles on the last mixed tank of fuel stopped and filled it,
it took 8 gallons. After about 2 miles it completely cleared up and
ran perfect the last 20 or 30 miles. With all the missing problems
posted on here some could possibly be old fuel related. G.M.
