Default How Much Grease is Needed

I had my '46 Coupe up on stands this past weekend, to check oil levels and grease all fittings. I did the clamshell/U-joint and the drive shaft center bearing fittings with four "shots" each, with a standard hand lever gun. My question is; how much grease is needed, given it can't get out or washed away like a steering or suspension point? As well, is 1000 mile intervals as per the Ford schedule necessary, given more modern grease formulas? Ford manual lists "cylinder oil soda soap grease" for the U-joint

I gave mine a decent pump or two every other grease job. That is an ample sufficiency.

Does the clamshell grease fitting lube the u-joint area or the inner surfaces where the clamshell seal moves?

I added almost 2 tubes of corn head grease when I reassembled my u-joint and clamshell set up. I figured that when it reached the speedo gear , it was pretty full.

I added the threaded hole in the top clam shell so I could add grease from the top instead of having to crawl under the car. If you have a nice lift in your garage, you are ready to go.

The two acorn nuts you see on the transmission mounts are from king pin locking pins.

That area [clam] should be getting a small amount oil from the trans, no need to go overboard with grease the area is not that big, use a semi fluid grease.
