Good quality blackwall tire source
I'm looking for a good quality blackwall tire. I would like it to be round, not way out of balance, and not wear out in a year or two. I intend to properly balance them, keep front end in alignment, maintain tire pressure, and not drive like a nut job.

Excelsior tires have a 50,000-mile tread warranty Coker sells them.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I second the Goodyear tires. Got a new set about 4 years ago, and have been very happy with them....much better than the prior BF Goodrich.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I got a set of universals from Coker several years ago. Very reasonable price and have been very good tires.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
Sorry, I did neglect the size. 4.75x19 for a 1930 sedan, no sidemounts.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I purchased five 17” Excelsior tires for my ‘31 Coupe and am pleased with them.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I have over 5000 miles on my Lester tires and still have lots of tread and no weather checking.

I have had Lester tires on my 1930 coupe for 10 years. No problems.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I've never been able to wear out a nylon cord Allstate tire on any of our model A's. Used Allstate tires are still available .

Purdy same here only they are rayon Bedford's, same thing. Got an ugly tread pattern but can't wear the darn things out, the one that looks like Charlie Brown's shirt. I'd like to and replace them with something else.

I always liked the zig zag tread pattern on the Allstate tires . A lot of model A's are still using them .

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
Whichever tire you choose I highly recommend 4 oz. of DYNABEADS in each tire.

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
My take on your post is.... you are looking for a SOURCE
Not a tire brand. If that is the case... after doing a fair amount of searching.... we went with Summit Racing. Free shipping.... that hard to believe... got here in 24hr! Best price we found. Gil. NoCal |

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I installed the Lucas 19" with about 300 miles on them. They are made in Vietnam, of Nylon, not polyester. Great design and fit fender wells. Down side is they can get flat spots from sitting awhile which after a few minutes of driving the ride is fine at 35 psi..

Re: Good quality blackwall tire source
I like the Goodyear tread design because others, like Firestone, (IMO) tend to follow grooves in the road and cause the car to swerve and follow them. The Goodyear pattern (IMO) would not do that, resulting in a nicer drive. As to wear, not many of us will wear out any set of tires for along time. You should know that I'm a modifier, and run 16" radials on my speedster and 15" radials on my widebed.
