26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
I Am missing something I think. I have a 26 coupe that was missing the inner windshield trim. I found a set and notice I am missing whatever screws into the middle of the trim that the swing arm pivots on. There are three holes. I looked at all my parts books and see nothing. Any help?

Re: 26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
Theres a bracket that takes 3 flat head (maybe oval head) machine screws into another backing plate inside the jamb. The fourth hole holds the knob that secures the opener arms into position. You may end up making them. Run a tap into the frame holes so the screws dont jam up. It may be a 1/4-20 or a 12-24. ws
Its really not much more than this. The jamb plates are flat tho... This is on my 58 Hatteras with powder coated aluminum frames... NICE!

Re: 26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
Bill, my windsheild post looks nothing like that pic? Mine has the bolt holes facing the frame, not the side like that.

Re: 26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
I am assuming that you have the long window trim pieces for each side and you are only missing the windshield pivot bracket. This bracket is 2-1/2" tall with (3) 1/4"x1/2" long flat head screws that attach it to the trim piece. The windshield pivot bolt (1/4"x1-3/8" long) is set back of the three screws and is pressed into the bracket. These brackets fit either side. I can't find an example in Snyder's or Mac's catalogs, but they are not that rare.
Good luck, hope this makes sense. |

Re: 26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
Vanspeed,
The sketch provided by Bill is very close, but the bracket has a "z" bend between the 3 screws and the pivot bolt. The window channel covers the 3 screws when the window is closed and the pivot bolt sits inside the frame to lock the window. Not trying to be picky, but this is not a flat bracket. Thanks for the sketch Bill, that was close. |

YUP... now I remember the offset and the stud pressed in, or was it friction welded? ws

Re: 26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
Do I have a good chance of finding this part? I do not think the aftermarket is reproducing this. What would it be called? Thanks for the help guys.

Re: 26-27 windshield pivot bolt?
I would think that you could find these fairly easily. Try Mike Peterson in Shevlin, MN.. He has many 26/27 parts. Also, try Model T Haven. I am not sure if this bracket was the same on earlier closed cars, but e-mail them a copy of this thread and they should be able to help. I would call it a pivot mounting bracket. Good luck.
Bill, mine were pressed in not welded. |
