The Valcan has a very poor wrist pin holder, but it can be changed over to something workable. Make sure it has all the tooling. The ways can be replaced easy, as they are 2" cold role. The bigest thing is to make sure that the two jaw rod adjuster, and holder is not wore, as it will not hold the rod in what ever alignment the rod has, as you tighten it will twist the rod, and will not bore straight. The Simplicity, AMCO, and the Waterbury, are about the same machine, as Simplicity made them all. Herm. |

Re: Connecting Rod lathe
He has a simplicity rod lathe as a parts machine.
It is missing "GOD" only knows what all? I need to find a manual. He wants $50.00 for the simplicity parts machine and $400. for the Vulcan. Thank you for your information! Steve |

Re: Connecting Rod lathe
Steve, I have pictures of the three rod lathes that that I have in my profile here on the Barn, along with some pictures I have taken lately of the shop machines, and some babbitt work, on rods and engines. I am about done with an APLEX car engine, 1911 that is a 5 main bearing, 4 rods, and is A 2 CYCLE, crank weights about 200 pounds. I never have seen anything like it. It it was made in IN., and also came from there. These pictures are NOT for solicitation for work, as we are 3 to 6 months out all the time. We work for other machine shops, most of the time. Herm.

Re: Connecting Rod lathe
If the Vulcan is good, with all tooling I wouldn't sell mine for anything less then 3000.00, if I were giving up the shop. One set of Chevy 4's would pay for it. You could almost junk it out for that. Take the Simplicity for 50.00 also, it might come in handy. I know it would junk out for that easy, cast is up. Herm.
