Arrow The Reason Why

An Ancient Lake Is Filling Back Up …

Tulare Lake supported Indigenous Peoples
for well over 10,000 years before things
starting changing in the 1500’’s …

TULARE LAKE was once the largest freshwater
lake located entirely in the United States and the
second largest lake west of the Mississippi River.
It is filling back up due to record snow & rain
with 5% (30 acres) of the original 690 acres
flooding the lakebed in the first quarter of 2023
resulting in the evacuation of hundreds of people
and thousands of animals including dairy cows

Wouldn't that be a hoot! Turn off the California Aqueduct that is presently sending Northern California water to Los Angeles. Hook the southern portion into Tulare Lake instead. Then when Tulare Lake dries up again LA dies a natural death...

Seriously, the subsurface aquifers in the San Joaquin Valley are seriously depleted from agricultural pumping and the land is dropping (subsiding). While even recharging aquifers will not bring the land back up, it will slow down or eliminate the subsidence.

Lightbulb Ancient Tulare Lake

Folks Out There …

Take the time to educate yourself
beyond your personal beliefs by
reading the links I have provided above.

The snow pack has not melted yet
and 30 acres or between 4 and 5 %
of water has already been added
in the first quarter of 2023.

That - despite efforts to stop the
ancient lake from filling.

Lake Tulare replenished the aquifer in times past. Recently they have been drilling deeper wells to get the water. I forget what the name for it is but Tulare Lake has no outlet so whatever they decide they will need to pump the water somewhere.

Evaporation is a slow process. There is a salt pan under Tulare lake.
