Is my Oil Pump Garbage?

Hey guys, I removed my oil pan to clean it out and wanted to clean and rebuild (if necessary) the oil pump. I know the oil pump is supposed to just be sitting in the block and it comes out when you remove the pan. Mine was held in with a bolt, which was very tight. I almost stripped the head of the bolt trying to remove it, but managed to get it out. I pulled the pump out and the photos I've attached are what I found. The top of the oil pump is all cracked and you can see where someone's tried brazing it or welding it together.
All videos and threads Ive read regarding oil pumps, people remove them, take them apart and clean them, reassemble them. I havent seen anyone remove the part thats cracked, if its even possible to remove? Can it be removed and replaced? I dont want to clean it up and put some welds on it, not on such a vital piece..

The part that is cracked & poorly welded is the main body. The early forged pumps seem to hold up well but most are cast iron so cracks are more common than a person might think. Sometimes you can find a good used one but it's a crap shoot if you can't visually check it prior to a sale. The last one I replaced was leaking oil from the body where a rivet type plug was installed to plug a horizontal oil passage drilling. When I tried to silver solder it, even with pre-heating, it cracked. I was lucky to find a good used forged body type. New ones are available but they are pricy.

As mentioned, new ones are pricey but so is an engine rebuild. For peace of mind I would replace it.

Thank you guys for your input. Of course I would rather replace it then risk having it not pump oil through the engine, or breaking and pieces flying around inside the engine. I wasnt sure if that piece was pressed on and could be pressed off and replaced or not.
But it sounds like its part of the main body as mentioned by rotorwrench. So I guess Im replacing it or building another one. I'll add it to the list...

It's possible that someone might have converted it to a full pressure pump, and done a poor job of it. Are the rod dippers still open and functional?

I'll have to check if the holes are open and functional when I get off work today. I'm no engine expert, never assembled one before. But looking at the bottom end with the pan off, I thought it would be a lot dirtier and gummy inside then it is.

I have a Stripe oil pump on my engine and it is a quality item. You may have to wait for production.

I have one of those sitting on a shelf. I haven't used it and probably won't. They deliver waayyy more oil than needed and at too much pressure if you are wanting to pressurise the bearings. In another engine, I made a pressure relief valve - most of the pump output goes out through that, wasted.
They are indeed a well made item but a big overkill.
As for the OP, I'd replace that pump. I expect you will have no trouble finding one to either fit straight in or rebuild.
