Engine Stand Tip
I'm probably the only person who didn't know this, but I learned something good yesterday about putting an engine on the stand. In the past, I have tried to get all the bolts and spacers arranged while the rotating bracket is inserted in the stand, both using the water inlet and the flywheel housing, and it was a challenge, especially to keep it from being too top heavy. A friend was working on his Triumph engine yesterday and he pulled the bracket out of the stand to do the bolt and spacer work. Much easier!

Re: Engine Stand Tip
We're never to old to learn, especially to make it easier on aging bodys.

Re: Engine Stand Tip
I mount the bracket onto the block while the block is on a hoist.

Re: Engine Stand Tip
I have a 4-point base on my engine stand. I have a full engine, will it sit on there without tipping over?
Thanks for the photo. I have always wondered about how it attaches, and now I can see. |

Re: Engine Stand Tip
I assume that you have good balance with the pivot a bit above the crank centerline. Unfortunately, because of my faulty technique, my rotating balance was off the last time I had my engine out and I didn't get a photo to see where the bracket was mounted relative to the crank centerline to compare to your photo.

Re: Engine Stand Tip
An engine leveler on the hoist can also make the job of getting things back onto the stand
a lot easier. - |
