fascinating! how do you set the oem fuel pump to "pass thru"?
and where can one find the regulator?
thnx

I mounted mine on the cross member of my 40 and it feeds back into the uncut original fuel line so I can remove it at any time.

I have posted detailed instructions along with photos of how to convert an OEM fuel pump to a pass through, on my thread "What I did on my lunch hour". You'll have to search the thread as I don't remember what page(s) the information is on.

Is a electric fuel pump better pushing fuel vs pulling fuel up to the mech pump. I am putting one on my 35 F cpe. thanks Tom

You will want to put it down below the tank and have it push to the engine.

No matter who’s pump you buy here is the fact
Electric pumps push better than they suck so you always want to mount it as close to the tank as possible .

Don’t mean to hijack but electric fuel pump running after a crash has always been a concern of mine.
When I rewired the 49 I repurposed a Fuel Pump Inertia Safety Cutoff Switch. FOMOCO has used them for years and put them about anywhere imaginable (under the dash and in the trunk mostly).
In the old days I used the run side of the ign switch for pilot duty to a relay feeding a 70s brand X oil pressure switch for run and the Ford starter solenoid ign terminal for startup.

Do you need to use a regulator when using a 12V Airtex pump to prime the engine?

No I wouldn't think so , so long as its a low pressure and you don't leave it running...

I use an Aixtex 12 volt and don't need a regulator. It puts out 3 psi, same as my OE mechanical pump. I use it for pre-start and used it once for driving when I got a vapor lock situation.
