Default Rear Motor Mount Flat Plate: Two Versions?

I have two sets and two styles of motor mount flat plates.

On the right:
This one is nicely finished, round corners, no rough edges.
These came with a spare motor mount set that I have.

On the left:
This one looks crudely made, almost as if by hack saw.
Corners have been cut back to clear brackets on the frame.
These came on my pickup.

Did Ford make the crude version shown on the left?

When did they produce this version (I hope to use this info to help zero in on the manufacture date).

I think the crude one is the late one

The one on the right was for the earlier models like 28-29. This style has been referred to as the forged motor mount plates. I have several that have raised Ford script

Another way Ford found to save money as the depression got worse. Forgings are more expensive than a quick stamping of flat plate.

According to one of Steve Plucker's articles the stamped plate with the clipped
corners came out in Oct 1929.

Thanks again guys. At least I'm sure that I'm using the right plates now on my late '30. Those ugly plates though...heck, Ford should officially apologize for those

Yeah, but they did not look like that when ole Hank's men sent them out the door! They were stamped out of brand new flat stock, and then dip coated with gloss Black enamel.
