Does anyone know what 15inch wheels will fit on a 1946 ford and still use the "stock" 46 ford hubcap? If so, does anyone have a set of those 15 inch wheels for sale?

if you can't find a set of used, and they are getting hard to find, you can buy new ones, there are several places to look..Coker has them for 90.00 a peice

Must be a regional thing but 15" wheels here are a drag on the market since the trend to taller wheels. Years ago the style was toward fat rear tires with readily available 15" tires. There was little to choose from in larger diameters. However expensive, tires for 16s and to a lesser extent 18", and even the largely ignored 17" , the selection is pretty good now. The 15" wheels are not nearly as in demand and thus cheaper. $30 now buys the best however needing paint that Ford produced in that style. I know that there is always the guy here having bought such wheels for $5 each, but that would be below the trend, even for the now obsoleted 15". Good Luck: Fred A

Why do you want 15? If you are looking for radials, you can get good 16 inch radials.

It can be difficult since 46Wine has not shared his location. Sometimes oportunity can be local but does that oportunity have to ask?

A word of caution on 15" wheels for early Fords.. The '47-48 Merc wheels were 15", they will usually be narrow, in the 4.5" range... The Ford F-100 wheels through 1966 will be a direct fit for the older Fords, '40-48. The pickup wheels will generally be a heavier type of wheel, 5.5" or 6.0" inches wide, a good thing and they are made for tubeless tires.. Just because a guy tells you the wheels came off of a pickup does not mean spit.. You have to measure them, I have seem more than one 60's model pickup with miss matched wheels which had stock type hub caps.

Assuming that the 46 is the same as my 40 Ford... The hub caps on my 40 require wheels with the hubcap bumps facing inward on the hub area rather than outward as they do on more modern wheels. My understanding is that 56 to 62 F100 wheels are designed this way. I believe that these wheels are 5" wide. I have been on and off looking for a set of these wheels. I'm looking for the later ones that would be safety rims (for tubeless tires). I'm not sure which year that these would have become standard.

Someone told me that the original 40 caps will not fit the Smoothies sold by Coker and others. F-100 Central was selling reproduction wheels. But they no longer lit them on their website.

Thanks everyone for your responses to my querry. As to location, I am in Oregon near Portland. The 15" wheels, as stated in some of the replys, are wider wheels and also, the 15 inch radials are easier to come by.
