Default Is a 41 truck transmission the same as a 39 car?

If not, what are the differences?

The clutch release shaft if its a floor shift 3 speed.

Unless its from a 6 cyl or 4 cyl. Then its a different story

If we are talking the 1941 85-hp V8 1/2-ton pickup with the light duty 3-speed then they would be nearly the same. There may be differences in some gears internally since commercial vehicles generally had gears made for pulling with different ratios but I'm not sure. The shift stick may have a bit different profile from the car transmission but I don't know without checking the part numbers for this stuff. My best answer is that if they aren't the same then they are damn close. 1942 was the year they went open drive so there were more differences after that change.

Ford offered several available transmissions in the commercial lineup. Yes, it could be a ‘39 type with all helical cut gears, or a “heavy duty” type with a larger main shaft and straight cut low gear, or a column shift option (not common). A 4spd truck transmission was also available. Happy New Year

same 78 case, different clevis arm on the clutch shaft, pin on the 39 arm, slotted on the 41. trucks generally had a 29 tooth first gear, a little different 2nd gear
