This will be OK if we can view the site without joining FB. There are too many sites that require that you sign up for FB in order to see their content, and I have a personal visceral aversion to that.

You do have to search for the full name. MARC has a page, too.

One wireless provider advertised, "You can hook up to 9 hand held devices through our system"! Is this INSANE?? I just noticed that I ONLY have 2 hands! What are all these DEVICES??? Enlighten me PLEASE.
With all the info floating around in space, one of these days all these systems will go "BROOOMPHPUTAH"!! and we can get back to important, fun, & meaningful things! Bill W.

Dumped my FB account several years ago...genuine waste of time. Just think, if you had bought FB stock on the IPO, you'd have lost enough money to buy another Model A!

Default Thank you

If you don't like Facebook, don't use it. Your choice.

However Ford Barn is a Facebook format, and you are here.

Thank you to the people who took the time and consideration to build this site. Now if I have an open weekend I can find a local event or meet that I can go to.

Please don't post boarderline nasty comments or criticize, it may stop people from developing these things, or sharing them here.

Thanks, Mark. You're spot on. Facebook provided an immesurable service to my family some years ago when our son was critically injured in a car crash; the "friends" we made then remain friends today. More recently, my high school class organized a 40th reunion... entirely through Facebook. It's a tool... no more, no less. Understand it and you can master it. Fear it? Well, you might as well don a tinfoil helmet and retreat to your bunker... in which case, can I have your "A?"

I've read every post to this point and I failed to find a single complaint about the MAFCA and/or MARC presence on Facebook. I did see several posters ( including myself) that said that they found FB a waste of time. Sometimes the reading comprehension skills of posters here are wanting.

Like i said always something here to complain about.

The Original post was about what MAFCA did...not opinions on if we like it or not...Its called promotion of the hobby, you and others thinking it is a waste of time is not the topic that was started.. I hold by my comment and post!

feeling a bit passive-aggressive today?
I just don't think it's good form to denigrate an attempt to promote the hobby.

Yes - I called those posts out. Trying to turn it around does not negate the fact that intentionally or not, you naysayers were essentially insulting the Original Post. Don't like FaceBook? - fine, but at least have the courtesy to thank the Original Poster for his effort...

OK look at it this way. I guessing that many of you are middle aged or at least into retirement. Who do you expect to carry on the hobby? What are you doing to bring younger boys and girls into the hobby? There introduction to Facebook in my opinion is an excellent way reach out to the younger generation and bring them into the hobby. It should not be about whether you had a bad experience on Facebook or not, but that THEY are taking the initiative to bring more into the hobby.

Facebook is probably a great thing for some lonely, isolated, handicapped, mobility impaired, etc, folks.
Some on the Barn may fall into some of those categories. Sorry I sounded kranky & rude in a previous post, I'll wash my mouth out! Bill W.

OH NOT Better in any way at all, facebook is not a site for what we do here on fordbarn, it is a social media that allows "friends" to see what other friends are doing, it is designed to promote the MAFCA Club and the hobby that is all it is for,.....not for getting technical advice.....enjoy?

Today you have to cast a wide net to appeal to all of the enthusiasts out there. Whether it is mail, email, the internet, facebook, twitter or any other form of communication. Everyone has their preferred method.

Not really better or worse than Fordbarn. Fordbarn is tech and Facebook is social. I like the ability to post events on Facebook and be able to see how many are coming or declining the event. If the group is well run, you'll be able to possibly get pictures of yourself or others that attended the event that were taken by others. Being in the army for 19 years and moving every 3 years Facebook is the one site that makes it really easy to see/talk to old buddies even if they move or change numbers over the years. Facebook reaches one out of 7 people on the planet. (one billion people).

In closing: I do so like green eggs and ham! Thank you! Thank you! Sam-I-am!

Default Re: MAFCA's new Facebook

Sometime when I ever get a weekend off I would like to go onto Facebook, where they are going to post other clubs meets and activities. It would be nice to meet some new friends. Ford Barn is a great place, but it does not offer that service. I think the people who built the facebook site did a good job, and thank you for your time in doing it.
