A running engine requires Fuel, Air, and spark.

Spark - Sounds like you've all but ruled all of these things out parts wise, unless you have an intermittent ground, short, or open curcuit somewhere else like the terminal box, ammeter, or battery. Also could have a cracked or bad distributer body?

Fuel / Air. I suspect the problem lays in here somewhere. It sounds like fuel to the carb is verified ok and manifold leaks are ruled out (including carb to intake surface?) so that leaves a problem or blockage internally with the carb or a valve issue. I think you have ruled about all else out!
