So you can't put the dist in 180 degrees off & go KABOOM!! & BLOW UP YOUR WHOLE KZHAUST SYSTEM! (Friend Ed did that! & blew carbon chunks in his neighbor's garage across the street!!) Of course, he had the LONG shaft dist, which is NOT offset. Bill W.

The shafts aren't offset, but the tab and notch are offset so they only fit together one way.

Fred, Dog here, this is the way Bill susplained it,
Iffin' you have a dist with the looooong shaft made on it, the end of the shaft is NOT offset where it plugs into the oil pump drive gear. Iffin' you have that "shortie" dist, the lil' shaft that drops into the oil pump drive gear is NOT offset on the bottom end, but IS offset on the top end to make it "idiot proof" Well, that's what he just told me. Bill, you and the dog are both wrong. The long shaft is slotted offset just like the short shaft. The distributor drives are all alike and the tang is offset. Find one and look at it.

Well, James, can't win them all. I have an old crummy spare long shaft dist & when I glanced at it, I thought it did NOT look off set-----------Bill W.

It's not off by much.

Yep, my flimsy excuse is that I was away from Model As for 40 something years while raisin' kids, took forever to get those RUG RATS out on their own! Chief's definition of EXCUSE: "THE SKIN OF A REASON, STUFFED WITH A LIE"! That makes me think of eatin' someone else's homemade sausages, "WHAT ALL DID YOU MIX IN THIS"???? Bill W.

As a dog lover, avoid Korean sausages. Trust me on this.

Thanks for the heads up, Mike! The ONLY ethnic food store I EVER frequent is our old established Sam's Italian Deli. Bill W.
