Default 34 pickup oil question and ignition resistor

I have a 34 pickup with a 21 stud engine that I think is original to the truck although it has a factory rebuilt tag on it. When I got the truck, it didn't have a dipstick in the oil pan. I'm getting ready to try to run it (have done a ton of body work, etc) and so I found a dipstick, put 5 quarts of oil in the engine after removing and cleaning the oil pan and marked the 5 qt level on the new dipstick. Now I'm worried that 5 quarts is not the right amount. Is it?

Also, the dash was apart when I got it. Assuming everything to be stock, should there be a resistor in the ignition wiring? If so, what size and where can I get one?

Thank you all for your help. It's nice to be a part of this socially distanced community.
