Default Model A Limo

Just looking at Craigslist for Minneapolis and saw this Model A Limo ad so I thought I would just pass it along. Only $9500.

I realize that sometimes using what is available is all there is, but WHY go to all this trouble and use this type of hardware??

Wonder what the door hinges look like??????

In one photo (with gate hinges) I seem to be looking at an 'Open Car'. In other photos, It appears to be a 'Closed Car'. Collectively, I am not sure what I am looking at. Perhaps the gate hinges were on the earlier 'Proto-type'.

Default Looks more like a Model AA bus used at Lourdes, France

It reminds me of the buses that were used in Lourdes, France to ferry pilgrims back and forth to the holy sites, like this one:

Note that the metal frames between the seats can be raised (and lowered) to support the canvas roof (rolled up behind the back compartment) for driving during inclement weather.

....or this one from 1930-1931 (note the quail and same type roof supports):

Fordially,

The yellow makes it look more like a Model A school bus.

This limo is one that really caught my eye 31 phaeton stretch limousine. If only I could convince the club that we need this! It would be perfect for taking those in the club who do not yet have cars or when members cars are unavailable. It even has heat for those sitting in back.

The yellow Model A Limo on eBay has been sold. Quite creative with the Model A and etc. parts. Some one has put quite a bit of time and money into it to get it where it is at. Still has quite a way to go, and it is more than I would want to mess with. Could be a fun driver when done.

In Europe a 114" wheel base was available it had a lengthend model A frame not AA . An extra cross member and a jackshaft to mate up to the regular A back axle .In England hire cars which came with a driver supplied used this WB . I france a lot were vans . The vehicles in the photos are most likely on the 114" WF frame .

John in weather on the way Suffolk County England .
