Default 1952 F1 Bumpers

Yesterday at a swap meet I just missed out on a good deal on a new chrome plated front bumper for the 1952 F1 I'm in the process of restoring. That got me thinking. Did these trucks come from the factory with a chrome plated or a painted front bumper? Does anyone know for sure?

They were painted front bumpers. Rear bumpers were an option starting in '51, and were also painted. Those were Korean War days, chrome was in short supply.

Edit: could be different in Canada, but I doubt it
