Default 53 merc oil pan

I have a 53 merc in a 35 pu with Pete and Jakes front end. The oil pan has a center sump and the steering rod hits the pan. Is there a rear sump pan available? What else do I need to change , such as the pick up tube. Does anyone have these parts? Thanks Steve

You'll need the '49-'51 pan - which has a built-in windage tray - and the oil pump pick up that goes with it. Pricey but available.

I may be wrong, but I think you need to change to a short bodied oil pump.
I hope others clarify this assertion. I have 50 Merc oil pan on the 8BA in my 40 and I think I had to change the oil pump also. I can't exactly recall, but I still have the receipt for the early FORD 8RT pickup oil pump from 40 years ago.

NO. the 49-53 Ford and Merc oil pumps are all the same length, you have to have the right pickup tube to go with the oil pan. Walt
