Default 36 pickup grille repair question

My grill has some missing and bent bars. I noticed Mac's has grille bars listed for '32 and says it requires 48 of them.
Are these a good starting point for fixing my 36 pickup grille?

If not, any other suggestions are appreciated.

run an ad in the wanted section you want a hunk of 36 grill with some good lower bars and crank hole. someone has remains of a 35 or 36 around.

i could sell you this 36 grill i have hanging on the wall.
100% rust free, media blasted, epoxy primered, all high end PPG products, block sanded, base cleared. ALL NEW Drake chrome with a new rad cap. all mounting holes intact. its DONE! - wet sand with 400 and paint the color of your choice.

Heck, I'd paint my truck to match!

Very nice grill!

i dont know how much.
i thought a row of nice restored grills all the way down the garage wall would be really neat so i bought a few 'really nice grills and got started. BUT..... 1 or 2 was MORE than enough.

i asked a resto shop owner i know how much to make a grill nice. restore it. he said NO WAY!! if i bring one in my shop all my men would all quit. they hate grills and sanding grill bars!!

Scott, do you have a sheetmetal break?

I meant to add, I made some a few years back...I did have to find a friend with a good shear though..

What I did was break the metal over to match the "V" depth on one side...I left the other side about 2inches wide (will see why in a sec)...then put back in my break and folded it some more to get it in the right "V" as the originals....This is why I needed to leave the other side wider.

Knowing I'd never get a straight cut, or "undeformed" cut, my buddy sheared my left over piece off to match the "V" needed.

I made these in a 3 foot strip (break I was using at the time) then sawed to length...I then used my diegrinder to shape the ends (little curved area) and tigged them in.

I had almost given up on this thread, thought it got buried and forgotten.
Thanks to all who responded, CVSTL I'll check out that article.
Mike B, I don't have a break..YET...but I could probably get access to one. I was wondering if the repro grille pieces would work as they are already formed, I would just need to cut to lenght. Maybe my next Mac order I'll have them throw one in for a coule bucks and try it out.
And of course I could also buy one to cut up for parts, but even smushed grilles seem to be a few hundred $$.

for my missing bars, I took flat strips of metal, opened my vice about 3/4", laid the metal over the gap, and inserted a tool and hammered down, making a nice V. I dont know what the tool was made for but it looks kinda like a real wide scraper.
