Sharp putty knife leather gloves and time. May need to pry the retainer flange out just a bit
To get it all out. |

>What material do you use to bed the glass into the windshield frame? >What do you use to cutaway the excess bedding material that is behind the pivot hinges The windshield in the photos is for my 190A Victoria.

Re: windshield frame rebuild
Tried the canvas backed material available thru the VFF, and the uncured. Either worked fine. I did not activate the uncured with oil, left it dry.
I was able to cutaway the bedding around the pivot points withe a utility knife CAREFULLY. Some masking tape over the painted surface as a barrier. |

Re: windshield frame rebuild
There are several videos. Pull up Brentwood Bob YouTube uploads. I reglazed 3 windshields.
Dealing with rusty hinges was a challenge. You can damage the top hinge, so I tried attaching a sacrificial piece of 1x4 pine. That was a good idea. Rust plugs up the hinge so go in steps to unclog the hinge channel. |

Re: windshield frame rebuild
A big Thank YOU Bob for the video! I have Mitch's stripping material, CRC Heavy Duty silicone spray, and homemade wooden stand on my bench. My new glass should be coming soon. Without your video I wouldn't of had so much confidence. Great winter project!

Re: windshield frame rebuild
Hope your frame is in good shape.
Cost me $50. Each for the replacement glass locally. Very doable. |

Re: windshield frame rebuild
Thanks for all the help and advise. I now have the glass out and weather stripping removed. Thanks for the videos Bob and I'm going to check locally on glass replacements.

Re: windshield frame rebuild
I used a cordless oscillating tool with a 1 1/2" saw blade to remove the old weather stripping and it worked great.
