Re: Oil pan
It just pops in place. So drop the pan upside down on concrete, and it will pop out.

Re: Oil pan
I drop the pan upside down on the grass. Sometimes I give it a little boost to pop out the tray.

I am not a fan of the "slam it to the ground method". Try using the "push with your feet and pry with a baseball bat" method. The link above is to my blog from when I removed the pan on my engine. |

Re: Oil pan
I have popped out several dipper trays using a axe handle (w/o the axe on it), shove one end in the hole for the oil pump and pop the tray out in one quick down stroke. The club member that rebuilds engines does not endorse the drop method as you can bend the flange and create problems with oil leaks.

Re: Oil pan
I just put a board across the top of the pan, and insert a big C-clamp into the hole, so the clamp is pulling up on the tray, and down on the board. A few turns and out it pops. No mess, and no new dents or bends in the pan.

Re: Oil pan
I recently removed my oil pan for cleaning. I cut off a section of an old broken shovel handle and inserted through the hole in the bottom of the pan. One blow with a mallet and the baffle dropped right out. Did not have to strike hard at all.
