Default Power steering pump question

Wondering if a factory 1961 Galaxie power steering pump (Eaton I believe is the stock 61 one) can be switched with a 1967 ps pump? In other words will a 1967 factory ps pump work with the control valve and other under car ps parts on a 1961 ? Not concerned about the actual bracketry or hoses…but the newer pump working with the 1961 under car parts if it matters it will be on a 390 motor.

Yes. Can I ask why?

The later pump(s) can be a THOMPSON or SAGINAW, both producing more pressure than the EATON. And then you would have the PS HOSE nightmare.

if its ram style PS at the bottom on both the pump should be OK to update.

I have had the PS nightmare on another build but found a modern R&P Ford pump that is lower PSI and works- so far
