Paulizor,

Note the dimensions of that box with the light switch rod in it. Go to FedEx website and generate a shipping estimate based on the weight(noted on the shipping label) the package dimensions, originating zip code and destination zip code. Be sure to specify 2nd day air. I think you will be surprised.

Wait til the first of the year, I hear FedEx and UPS will be both beginning to determine shipping by parcel dimensional weight. Hold on to your wallets. Right now, they only rely on dimensional weight for packages of a certain size and larger.

Found out why my shipping was $113. Snyder's split my 9 pounds of parts into TWO BOXES. Both going at two-day Air rates. Oh Brother!

They're always looking for new revenue streams. I suggest voting with your pocket book.

Earlier UPS started an alternative to Smart Post where they held my package in the warehouse for 24 hours waiting for a reply to their email. Their email said that if I wanted to POSSIBLY get my package sooner they would, for an extra $3.50, be the end deliverer instead of the USPS. NO THANKS, crooks. I had already paid $9.95 for a 1# part in a 3x4x6" box.

The ONLY complaint I have ever had with Snyder's originated in their shipping department over just such stupid actions. I have complained several times, with no success.

However, I keep using them because the other 98% of the time they are great.

That really depends on the distance and the size/weight of the package. I often order from TAM's in West Boylston MA. All small parts are shipped USPS Priority Mail (that's around 5 or 6 bucks - UPS is usually about twice that). All of those orders were received next day (I am about 75 miles away from W. Boylston) . Large or heavy packages however were shipped UPS and received within a couple of days at most.
