Default AA 4 Speed Transmission Shifters.

I have a 1928 Roadster Pickup that was retrofitted with the AA 4 Speed Transmission many years ago. The Transmission has a casting date code 2-13-31 on it. Obviously an early one with the shifter cap with out threads.
This shifter is very sloppy and needs to be rebuilt soon by me.
I acquired a later BB 4 speed Transmission that's near perfect condition with the later threaded shifter cap. The case has no date code that I can see. I know the BB Case doesn't have the boss for the pedals shaft.
What I want to know is can I use the near perfect Transmission shifter assembly along with the top of the case and swap it out for my old early one?
I would think they can be swapped from transmission to transmission like the standard Model A 3 Speeds can.
I would like to do this rather than completely swap out all of the gears to be able to use the AA Case for the Boss for the Pedals.
Thanks!

My 28-37 parts book lists the shift tower the same 29-37---a lot of the 4 speed parts were used into the 50s ---there may be some different parts, but the assembly should fit

Yes. It is a Borg Warner transmission and the shift tops are interchangable. They had many issues with the early 4 speed tops, and refined (redesigned) them several times in the following 40 years.
