15" Ford hubcap dilemma
I'm searching for a Ford hubcap that will cover
40 Ford front and rear hubs and snap on Ford 15" pickup wheels with 4 mounting nubs on the outside. There must be some options? Last edited by Init1; 08-21-2018 at 07:37 AM. |

Re: 15" Ford hubcap dilemma
If I’m reading your question right any 1940 through 1948 Ford hubcap will work on Ford Truck 15” rims.
Hope this helps. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: 15" Ford hubcap dilemma
.........ONLY on TRUCK wheels up to '66, I believe, are the 'nubie's mounted on the INSIDE! '40-'48 caps will NOT fit outside nubies. '67 or so is When the wheels went to the big OUTSIDE nubies. There should be a "cheap" factory cap to fit these later wheels, but I'm not sure they would necessarily clear the bearing and axle shouts on the early axles. You need to find four '53-'56 15" pick-up wheels with the nubies on the inside, to be able to run the cool, early caps. DD

Hope this helps. =============================================== As the OP says in his post, he has the OUTER Nubs, so he has 1967 and newer Ford pickup wheels which take a 10 1/4" hubcap. .

Quote:
The easy way to solve the hub-cap wheel problem is to use '57-66 F100 wheels. The hub-cap knobs will be on the inside of the wheel hub, just like the stock '40 wheels. Ford went to the external knobs in '67 on the F100's, which is similar to the '49-50 Merc wheels and the '49 later Ford cars. Be careful buying the 15" wheels, the '47-48 15" wheels look the same, however they are only 4.5 wide.

Re: 15" Ford hubcap dilemma
67-77 Bronco and pick up, along with Ford Galaxie used these hub caps and I know for certain they will clear 1940 axle/hubs. I've seen them on a 40 convertible that is local.
