Default Fender mounting pad?

Okay another one. Getting ready to hang the fenders and seem to be missing a piece. At the read near the door there is a stud on the fender that feeds into the car to secure the fender. Is there a spacer/pad or anything the goes on the stud between the fender and the body? I cannot find any part numbers or even a pic of this in any manuals. Thanks

Post Re: Fender mounting pad?

There should be no pad (I will check the ILL to be sure). Usually a shim/shim pack is used to get the fender curvature to match the door panel.

HERE IS AN ILL -

There is a dotted line but no ASSY DETAIL shown.

if it goes into the passenger compt along with shims a thin piece of rubber can be used to seal it also will eliminate noises i have found that torch down roofing material works well for thin gaskets

As I remember, it went into the front hinge pillar. A sound deadener does make sense.

I have never seen one of these but may contain info -

The factory '55/56 Ford full-size cars had a square rubber pad with one hole for the stud in the fender. It's a fairly thin pad, between 1/16" to 1/8" thick. Part # B5A-16172.
There is also a narrow rubber strip that goes in between the top of the fender and the curve at the top of the cowl, part # BA-16126-A.
It appears Mac's is no longer selling these, but you might check with Dennis Carpenter. I only have a real old catalog of theirs.
