Fall tour

Yes, off we went and the beer is good. Here are a few shots of the cars participating in today's ride.

GREAT FUN being had. Put on over 300 miles today driving to JM's and on to trainguy's. When we got to the tour starting point, i lifted the hood for cooling and someone (not sure who) noticed wetness. Swapped pumps, and my backup, which just came off the car in the day I wrote the York Co. post, wasnt pumping at all. I will revisit that thread when I get back, but it appears that I may be confused as to what happened that day, it seems I DID have a pump failure, my first reaction was correct.

Phil (trainguy) offered one of his which is working fine! So I really switched pumps twice!

I also had a brainfart and left my gas cap at a station a few miles from Dad's house! Phil is lending one from his '36.

I'm pretty sure more fun on tap tomorrow. I didn't take any pix today.

One other curious thing to note, there are THREE Washington Blue, '36 Phaetons here! (The third one is Phil's and it is in his garage, and missing its fuel cap temporarily.) Dad told me there were 5555 Phaetons built in '36.

Zach, sorry things got switched around.
Today we were in Scranton at the Steamtown National Historic Site and the Electric City Trolley Museum. Took a ten mile ride on an old trolley.
Tomorrow we head for the Poconos. It has been a great tour so far.

Hi all, Well it's winding down today. We took an epic ride yesterday to the Zane Gray house and museum. Incredibly scenic. We were expecting rain so I put the side curtains on the Phaeton, which did the trick, 'cause we only had to drive through ten minutes of rain, right before we got back to the hotel.

More reporting after I get back home tonight, or maybe tomorrow, depending on how tired I am.

MANY THANKS TO TRAINGUY-PHIL AND CAROL FOR ORGANIZING AND HOSTING. At least 3 people have tried to convince me I should do the next one. We'll see is the best i can do, remember I'm still a working stiff.

Jeff, Glad you had a good time. I was at the Zane Grey house just before the Park service took it over. You could have "hands on" with the artifacts then, but I bet you can't touch anything now! Incidentally, I have 2 or more copies of most of his books and have read them more than twice. Some or first editions.

Pete, I'll try to post that info for y'all real soon. I hope trainguy doesn't mind!?! The routes were outstanding. Especially the one to the Zane Gray NP because the road was pretty tight, and an ambulance wanted past at a place where there was no room! The way back was through the Delaware Water Gap NP. Steamtown was as good as the Smithsonian, easily. We had Yuengling in the place they made it starting 1829! At Hershey they had about eight very early letter Fords like B, C, D, E, F... (possibly not accurate, but WOW), and that was just a very small part of a whole lot of awesome vehicles!

I just got back home about an hour ago.

I'll add my appreciation to Phil and Carol for a fabulous tour. Truly superb, but its the people that really make a tour and this was a wonderful group. We indulged our other hobby the last day at a military vehicle show, so Eleanor (alias "old smokey") didn't make the trip to The Poconos. I swear guys, she didn't use a drop of oil that last day - seems the Restore did something.

I always enjoy these tours. The cars, the people who own the cars, the places we visit, plus talking to all the folks who just stop by to admire these old cars. Great fun!! Big thanks to Phil and Carol for hosting this one. We had lots a fun!
Jeff and I left Phil's place today at ~ 9:30 am and headed towards Lancaster, PA. I had a birthday party to attend in Lancaster and Jeff headed on down to Monkton, MD where he keeps his car.
Looks like the next road trip adventure will be in late October to attend the Moonshine Fest in Dawsonville, GA. Had a great time there in 2011.

Many thanks to Phil and Carol again for putting together some great tour activities and entertaining me for a couple of days prior. I thoroughly enjoyed being Phil's captive audience. I got to drive many of his collection.
Touring was a good time with old and new acquaintances. I wish lots of happy motoring to Wayne and Barb with their '42 Todor. Just don't count on the Restore to be a long term fix for the smoking.
So. Jeff what's next?
