Re: Airing Out Grievances Driving In Modern Traffic
On Model A club runs, leave the group and go to the destination solo if they are poky and holding up traffic;
Bob, this is the only statement I disagree with. Part of the reason for the club runs is the close knitness of the group. Also if anyone has trouble you may be the one that comes up with the idea to get them going again. I am saying this as one of the "slower" ones as my most reliable driver doesn't have OD or a hi-powered engine. As for every one else, if a motorcycle is out of your wheelhouse, try a MG Midget. IMO when I drove them I was treated just like a bike. It will teach you defensive driving real quick! |

Re: Airing Out Grievances Driving In Modern Traffic
The thing about old fashioned hand signals is that mostly no new drivers even know what the hell they represent. RIGHT TURN does not mean I'm waving "hello". SHEESH

Actually new drivers may not use hand signals but they should know what they mean. Hand signals are still shown in the DMV booklet and my son was asked to demonstrate hand signals to the DMV inspector before taking his driving test |

And we won’t even talk about being tested on parallel parking.

This argument that hand signals are no longer used or understood comes up often on the old car forums. I recently quizzed an 18 yr. old. He knew what they were and could demonstrate them. One will occasionally see motorcyclists, bicyclists and others using them here. Last edited by AzBob; 08-08-2023 at 11:32 AM. Reason: attachment |

How I drive defensively, never leave home without one...or two.
