Skibb: What type of shock. Are they friction or tube??
The Stipe shocks are as close to original only better.

$1000 set with links ? That doesn't sound like Bill Stipe shocks. So, who made these ? If they are the 'oil-less' units [ I won't mention the name] stay as far away from them as you can. The Stipe units don't come with links [as far as I know anyway, mine didn't] but are good shocks, well made and they actually work as they should.

You're correct Bill Stipe's don't come with links he manufactures the shocks only. He was great to deal with!

I just looked up these shocks in Brattons. #24861 is the part number you want, they are now $1030/set with no links. The 'oil-less' set with links is $840.

How much ? As the post states, $1030/set of 4. Contact as post states, Brattons auto parts [Google] for on-line catalog. Brattons are good people to deal[as are some other vendors]

There is someone in MODEL A NEWS who has a small ad for original rebuilts for $55 with exchange or $85 apiece with no core. I believe he is in Colorado.

Had Ken Davis shocks on my rig for a year now. No problems - nice ride - terrific price.

Back in January I'd asked here about Shock absorbers as the ones on my "barn-find" car were later replacements which had interfered with the brake rods bending all of them pretty bad. I was referred to Robert Paul (his phone #719-478-5102) for getting a rebuilt set by two or three of the people posting here and so I called to see if he could help - His price for a set, even not having cores, was good and I ordered a set of rebuilt shocks.

Rob warned me there was a winter time backlog of work in his shop and I would be "in-line" for the work to be completed. They took a while to get delivered but they came last night and look fantastic. I'm planning on installing them this weekend and will be able to comment more next week, but I'm confidant that they will work as advertised.
