Default trailering a 56

I will be picking up my 56 next week, I am wondering if anyone can suggest what tie down spots will work the best? I have a 16 foot flatbed and am using 4 inch nylon straps thanks

Thanks I have rear axle straps but can't use wheel strap as I have no place to hook them on the trailer. What about using the lower control arms?

I use the lower control arms. Put the straps as far "outside" as you can. Typically the strap can be captured by the lower ball joint castle nut. I get both sides evenly tightened up then pull as hard as possible on the rear straps.

When you put a chain or strap around the rear axle housing, make sure you don't
put the chain or strap where the brake line tubing is, as you don't want to crush it.

Lightbulb 1956 F100 Custom

In my trailer now - picked up in
the Boston area - dropping off
in Peoria, Illinois …

This beautiful 1956 F100 Custom

On this truck - 6 point tie down
with Mac’s axle straps and
nylon ratcheting cable straps.

Two on the rear axle straight
back from the axle - one on
each frame rear corner crossed
to the other trailer side - one on
each wide slot front wheel straight

This eliminates vehicle shift.

5K wide drum synthetic line
winch line held taught as
a safety line.

Every vehicle is different.

I have always left my car in neutral while tying the car or truck down and after its tight I will then put in park sometimes.

Thumbs up Trailering in gear

If you are trailering your own
vehicle and are certain in will
not lock up in gear during transport
then putting it in gear is a good idea.

Don't see how you can avoid it on a '55/56 since the brake line runs across the back of the axle housing, but near the top such that a strap will come in contact with it.
I suggest using a nylon strap run below the brake line very near the brake backplate so the strap will be directly up against the axle housing itself.

Lightbulb Every car is different

Every car is different.
Obviously you don’t want to
crush a brake fluid line or
any other part when you
tie down so use discretion
and. good judgment when
you place your axle strap.
