I did a bit of a choke when told what it would cost to get my 54 Vicky front bumper replated.

The car is an original car so good second hand would be acceptable to me.
Not many 54's in this part of the world but plenty of 55/56's.

Are they the same?

'54 Ford bumper is a one year only, the '52& 53 Ford bumpers are the same. HRP

In the early 2000's I had all the chrome redone on a 41 Pontiac, everything. It cost me right around $1500 from a semi-local shop. Fast forward to earlier this year, I called the same shop and asked about rechroming two Corvair bumpers. $900...EACH. Small bumpers. I bought repro's for around $900 for both.

The high cost is due to current toxic waste controls. It takes $$$ to comply with the latest regulations.

You can have them done in MECHICO cheaply as they have no concern for pollution or toxic wastes.
