Default What is Average rebuild cost ??

What is the average rebuild cost of a rear end out of a 1953 Ford Mainline.
Not just parts but to have it done by a pro.
I Know there is a lot of variables but just a average $$$$$

just had two rebuilt by a pro shop and they both were $1400 ea., this included removal and re-installation. Would be about $200 less if just carried in. Quote to do a 9" hog head only was $800. hope this helps

maybe from Richmond gear-they used to make some odd ratio's, especially for a 9" used in Nascar

My Flat rate book quotes the labor time at 4.3 hours for the total task of overhauling a rear axle not including removal. Now most people know that is the time it would take a mentally challenged mechanic under the influence of a couple unauthorized barley pops to complete the job. So with that handicap if you multiply 4.3 times the area shop rate say $65.00 /hr that job should cost around $279.50 labor plus parts.
