Default Condenser troubles?

I had the distributer out and got worrying about the condition of the condenser. It is a 46-8 dist.
The dist was rebuilt in????
I bought a new condenser and now the car dies after about an hour of running. Let it sit 5 minutes and it fires instantly. I can put the maybe 60 year old condenser back in or maybe there is a good new one someone would recommend. It ran flawlessly until I fixed it. Maybe it is not the condenser but it seems suspicious as that was the only thing changed.
Thoughts??

If the old one worked, reinstall it.

Jim Lindner (Bubba) sells a magneto condenser that has worked flawlessly in my car for years. NAPA sells a replacement also.

Condensers are so simple but that doesn't mean the manufacturers will make one that's worth a damn. Unfortunately, this is the modern reality and I don't run into too many folks that haven't come to this conclusion. I buy three just to hopefully get one good one.

I put my 60 year old one back on. I will buy a NAPA one for a spare.

A defective coil will present the same symptoms.

If it does it again, I will try another coil. It is a late model type coil.

The 42 - 46 condensor is usually niot as big a issue as the earlier ones.
NAPA makes a good quality replacement for this distributor....
